First of all, I should mention what this book is and what it isn’t. It offers an overview of Dalcroze Eurhythmics – the experiences and insights offered by many of the leading teachers in the field. It isn’t so much a workbook, although it does offer a CD with some sample exercises in the back, which I did use successfully with some students before I had been exposed much to Eurhythmics. If you are looking for a book of exercises though I would look elsewhere. This book is perhaps best for those with some exposure to the Dalcroze method who want deeper insight into its purpose and intent.
When I first ordered this book, I was left thinking “Yes, but how is Eurhythmics actually taught?” It wasn’t until I had taken a teacher training course that the book made more sense to me. I now find it to be a valuable resource.
